Our ambition? To be the most sustainable sauce manufacturer in the Netherlands. As a family business, we stand for the long term. Energy & CO2
To make the tastiest sauces, we need energy. We have already taken sustainability steps here by using green electricity that is 100% generated from Dutch wind energy. To make an even greater impact, we are building the most sustainable sauce factory in the Netherlands, which we expect to take into use in 2026 and which is completely gas-free.
Did you know that about 90% of our raw materials come from Europe? That saves a lot of travel kilometers and thus CO2.
Our goals
Near-term science-based targets have been approved
We are taking ambitious and scientifically backed climate measures.
In November 2025, our near-term science-based targets will be approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
- Oliehoorn is committed to reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 63.0% by 2035 compared to the base year 2023. Additionally, Oliehoorn commits to reducing absolute scope 3 emissions from purchased goods and services and upstream transport and distribution by 37.5% in the same period.
- Oliehoorn is committed to reducing absolute scope 3 FLAG emissions by 45.5% by 2035 compared to the base year 2023. Oliehoorn also commits to preventing deforestation within the key deforestation-sensitive raw materials, with December 31, 2025, as the target date.
These goals ensure that our climate measures are in line with the latest science and contribute to limiting global warming to 1.5

Packaging
In recent years, our packaging has undergone a significant change. For the squeeze bottle, we have adapted the bottle to sustainable material and we have also replaced our original cap with a sustainable screw cap variant. This meant: a lot of testing and improving. Because at Oliehoorn, the taste and quality of our sauce come first. Without the right packaging, we cannot guarantee that. Fortunately, all that work was not without success! Our squeeze bottles are now fully recyclable!
Raw materials
We feel responsible for the entire chain from the farmer to the plate. At Oliehoorn, we want to play an important role in improving the conditions throughout the chain. Additionally, Oliehoorn works with a ‘Green Partner certificate’. By scoring on the right components, suppliers can be awarded this certificate. This way, we strengthen each other and contribute to a more sustainable world.
Waste & Wastage
You know how it is; there’s always some sauce left in the pan or stuck to the spoon. It’s no different for us. Such a waste, of course. That’s why we critically look at how much waste we produce, where we spill sauce, and we work on reducing waste and residual streams. During the production process, we can’t avoid producing waste, but we try to minimize it as much as possible. But our sauce fans also help us combat waste. Have you seen a Look-Smell-Taste logo on our sauces? We’re happy about that! Our sauces have a best before date, but did you know that you can often still eat them after that date?
Look, smell, taste. Does it look good? Does it smell nice? Does it taste good? Then wasting it is a shame, and you can still enjoy your favorite sauce sensationally!
