Barbecue Sauce

  • 1 kg small spare ribs (short ribs)
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika powder
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 150 ml Oliehoorn barbecue sauce

    Preheat the oven to 150°C, fan oven to 130°C.

    Mix the smoked paprika powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper in a bowl.

    Rub the spare ribs all over with olive oil and then with the spice mixture

    Place the spare ribs on a baking sheet or in a baking dish and cover with aluminum foil.

    Bake the spare ribs in the oven for about 1.5 hours until they are tender and juicy.

    Remove the foil, generously brush the spare ribs with the barbecue sauce.

    Set the oven to grill mode or increase the oven to 220°C.

    Grill the ribs for 5-10 minutes, until the sauce caramelizes and is nice and sticky.

    Serve immediately with extra barbecue sauce for dipping.
